This always picks me up from a impossibly cold and early morning.
Stroopwaffeln
They are beautiful. Thin Dutch wafer cookies that have been split in half and filled with a delicate layer of gooey caramel stuff. They will rescue anybody's day. Add a warm mug of cider and your kids will suddenly look like they are sporting halos and growing wings. A "turn-my-morning-around" must.
I first fell in love with these when my hubby brought some back from a business trip to Amsterdam. So let's all make a pact that should anyone find themselves in the country of wooden shoes and wind mills, said person will buy costco amounts of these cookies to bring them back for the rest of us.
However, if you don't happen to be going abroad any time soon, nor know anyone who is, you can wish very hard for a brilliant Aunt Mary who will somehow produce under the Christmas tree for you a lovely blue and white tin. A tin that even your children will recognize as the bearer of the adored cookie. And Aunt Mary's status as the best harbinger of European goodies will continue to be legendary.
Thanks Aunt Mary!

Those DO look yummy!
I was telling Musso the other day where you can find these delicious cookies. Trader Joes! Crazy, huh? I had been talking to my brother about them and then happened to find them. My brother served his mission in Amsterdam and loved these cookies. He said that he used to buy bags of the broken cookies and eat it as cereal. Yum!
So, you can get them at Trader Joe's? I will definately get a package to try it out.
I'm not a tea lover...but is the Dutch wafer cookie vegan friendly? It sure looks great!

Hi, do you remember me? Amy Horlacher, Shawn's wife. Anyway, I love these wafer cookies too and my parents actually bought them from Costco. They live in Washington though so it might be a regional thing, but I thought I'd let you know so you can check at your Costco.
